My daughter always tells me I should clean my brushes and I must confess that I might do it once a year! I know, that sounds bad but in my defense my go to daily makeup routine is mascara and chapstick. I feel like a runway model when I use tinted moisturizer and as for contouring I don’t even have a clue.
So since I feel I have such limited use with my brushes I thought I could be lazy but I really shouldn’t, so when I read a cool green cleaning tip for makeup brushes (on Young Living) I thought for all of us that don’t clean them but should and those great people who do clean here is an easy to do DIY.
1 cup witch hazel
4 teaspoons liquid castile soap
5 drops Lavender essential oil
5 drops Tea Tree essential oil
Combine all ingredients in a bowl and mix thoroughly. Store in a glass bottle.
How to clean your makeup brushes:
Pour half of the makeup brush cleaner into a cup.
Wet the bristles of the makeup brush by holding the brush vertically, bristles down, under running water.
Once the bristles are wet, dip them in the cleaning solution.
Using a textured surface, scrub the brush in a circular motion.
Repeat steps 3-5 or until makeup is completely out of the brush.
Rinse the brush until there are no more bubbles or soap in the bristles.
Gently squeeze excess water out of the brush and lay it flat to dry.
Toss used cleaner.
I know it has been awhile since I found some great finds to share but I realized that I use my essential oils daily but I don’t talk much about them online. So I thought every Tuesday and/or Thursday when I share my great finds that I will share interesting facts and recipes pertaining to essential oils.
Today I am going to share part of my Thieves cleaning kit. (I have older post about thieves and how great it is to clean with and all the other uses for it.)
I was so excited when I received my kit. I don’t know what it is about kits but I feel like a kid on Christmas when I get something that comes all together. With this kit comes a nice bucket, a white cloth, a spray bottle, a 10.4 oz Thieves cleaner, small booklet that gives recipes on how to clean with out toxins and 5 essential oils in a red bag.
As you can see you get a lot so you can start cleaning your whole home with just a few items that last a lot of months.
Todays All-purpose cleaner recipe can be used from countertops to the bathroom and everything in-between.
Yield: approximately 16 fluid ounces
1 capful thieves Household Cleaner
2 Cups of water
Combine ingredients and store in a glass spray bottle. Spray surfaces liberally and wipe clean.
OPTIONAL add a few drops of pine, lemon, purification or tea tree essential oil.
This is safe to use around babies and pets and you don’t have to worry about chemicals.
You will find this and many more recipes on a safe alternative way to clean on Young Living’s blog (if you are a member.) If you are interested on purchasing any products or becoming a member or perhaps you have questions you may go to my website or email me.
I wrote a blog last April 5th when I first started my business “Mi Recycled Blanket” and thought I would bring it back today incase you did not read it and Spring is not to far away so perhaps when the spring cleaning bug strikes you may keep me in mind.
I hope you find it interesting and if anything maybe get you thinking on what can be done for those in our society that seem to be over looked.
I think we have all heard of the company “TOMS”. They are a company that saw a need and did something. I always had great respect for this business concept. With this in mind I have been making blankets out of recycled material giving them away and enjoying helping keep others warm.
I see all the hurting and cold people who seem to be forgotten. My heart was compelled to do something, so I came up with this idea of taking old sweaters that will end up in a landfill or a thrift store and refurbishing them into blankets that are sold. I sell one and give one away every time.
Instead of having sweaters just sit in the closet or storage because you don’t know what to do with them. I take the sweaters of you or your loved ones, whether out grown, out used or perhaps even of loved ones that pass away.
I make a blanket for you to keep in place of the sweaters clogging up your closet or I take the donated sweaters to make a blanket to give away.
My prices are fair and I enjoy doing this for you. Keep in mind at the same time I make a blanket out of your sweater I make one out of sweaters that have been donated so I can give them away to someone in need.
I ask you to think when you do your spring cleaning. If you have sweaters that you would like to donate or would like to pay me to turn them into a blanket keep me in mind not only does this clear out the clutter but will help someone less fortunate than you.
“Mi Recycled Blanket” is the name of my new business and no it is not miss spelled but it’s named after my grandson Milo who helped inspired me.
My motto for this business
“Give unto them beauty for ashes, The oil of joy for morning, The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; That they may be called trees of righteousness,”
Isaiah 61: 3a
Todays find is a wonderful flour that is healthy for you and is so versatile. I found it when I was looking awhile back at all the products Younliving has. They are more than just a place for essential oils.
I found the following article that goes into great detail about this very old flour that perhaps you may want to make a comeback and use.
“You have heard of almond and rye flour, but did you know that the oldest form of wheat is called Einkorn and you can easily cook with it? Einkorn is a healthier, more natural choice that hasn’t been processed or modified. There is a lot of versatility when it comes to Einkorn Flour.
Einkorn’s natural genetic code and low gluten levels make it compatible for more sensitive stomachs compared to current versions of hybridized wheat. Because it is easier to digest, your body can absorb the nutrients in einkorn at higher levels.”
You may use this in all your favorite recipes for cooking or baking, from cookies, crepes to smoothies or on yogurt. You can find the flour or products made from this flour on my Youngliving website that I have provided below or please email me if you have questions.
For todays great find I decided to choose a song that I heard this week.
I enjoy all types of music but at times when I want a little more uplifting I listen to a national station called Air 1. As I was getting ready for work I turned on that station and heard a great song “Bleed the Same” by Mandisa.
I never heard of this artist so of course the researcher in me went to work. I found out she is a contemporary American gospel artist. Not only is she a great singer but she also has an amazing story. Just one quick fact is she talks openly about how depression almost led her to take her own life.
“Bleed the Same” is a great look on how we are all the same so why are we so divided?
Both her story and music are up lifting and worth checking out.

This weeks great find is from Young Living. One of their essential oil blends that I really love and use is Thieves.
Legend has it that in the 15th-century, French authorities offered leniency to a group of thieves in exchange for their secret aromatic mixture. Their formulation of powerful botanicals was believed to protect them while they pillaged communities.
Centuries later, we know that their secret blend of clove, rosemary, and other botanicals contained powerful, naturally derived constituents that may have protected this band of bandits. Legend or no, Thieves® Vitality™ and our plethora of Thieves products, with the powerful essential oils of Lemon, Clove, Cinnamon Bark, Eucalyptus Radiata, and Rosemary, provide both wellness support and the power to care for your home without synthetics or harsh chemicals.
This is worth checking into with the dreaded season of colds/flu that is upon us. I have used this product for years with great success by using it to clean with out the harsh chemicals and it keeps me healthy.
You may find the oil blend and the whole Thieves line at my website that I have below.
This weeks great finds are a vegan friendly capsule that helps with digestion. This capsule has digestive enzymes with prebiotic and probiotic.

Now for this weeks great find is a book that I did a women’s study last year but from time to time I pick it back up again, it’s that good.
The book is “Uninvited” by Lysa Terkeurst it is a self-help and it is anything but boring as you read along it lifts up your spirit when you may be feeling less than or just need a positive pick me up. Lysa shares her experiences of rejection but how not to stay in that rejected state. It’s for all of us that can feel left out and need some reminders of how to overcome fear and understand the secret of belonging.
At the end of the book she even includes great little positive sayings you can cut out or right down, like ” Today’s disappointment is making room for tomorrow’s appointment”.
Lysa Terkeurst is a New Your Times bestselling author, you may find this book at amazon by using the link I have provided below.
I have found a great book that I wanted to share. It is for all us girls that feel lost in our life or have asked the question what happened, how did I drift to this part of my life. You know the messy parts or hard seasons when you question your life and how to press the reset button.
In “She’s Still There” by Chrystal Evans Hurst you will find an easy read that encourages you to remember that the refining moments are not defining moments that we are both a masterpiece even if it feels messy it’s because we are a work in progress. It is not the end but that we can move forward and enjoy the dance of life.
In this great book you will find reminders and practical steps on how to live your best life instead of exciting, it’s never to late.
If you would like to check it out please see the link I have provided below. Enjoy and let me know what you thought of this book and if you would like maybe we could do an online study.
